More seriously, this seems to be what's going on here, if you think about the bearings we've been given.

The Kilo appeared at 350 deg/9000 yards, and is now at 325/8500 yards. Our facing (from where the torpedo went) is 045.

What this means is that the Kilo is circling around to get behind us. It's unlikely that we can outrun it and run quiet at the same time. Which means we need to turn after it and try and get behind it, instead. Trying to break contact IMHO will very likely get us killed.

We shouldn't take evasive action at this point because it's too early, plus it will slow us down and give the Kilo time to line up another shot. So I feel 2 is the right move.

The Kilo also lacks a towed sonar array, which means we'd be in its sonar blind spot if we get behind it.
