Steamband

Part 9

OK, breaking into the vault. After killing a few chaff, we run into this guy:

Who immediately blinks away. OK.

The entrance to the vault is a long corridor. Every single step of it is a trap. We disarm the first few without difficulty, but this one:

Oh god, this one.

It's a teleport trap, and it ends up taking us about half-a-dozen tries to disarm it. Most of the failures bounce us across the level, and then we trudge back to try again.

In the process, we run into this old friend:

We've come a long way, and he's no threat to us now.

Likewise, this guy, who I killed without realizing he was a unique.

Whoops!

Finally, we disarm the teleport trap, and the spiked pit trap beyond it (which also gives us some trouble.) We fight a few interesting enemies, including this guy,

who has an effect that deals a small amount of damage & inflicts light stun every turn we spend next to him. (The 'hail of stones'.)

None of them give us more trouble than that damn teleport rune, though.

Finally, we find the treasure lurking within!

And recall back to turn it in for 3 skill points. Kind of anticlimactic, after all that, but I can't complain. We dump them into 'disarm traps'.

Anyway, things have been too easy lately, so let's try a 'difficult' quest.

Sounds fun!

That'll be that, then.

Could we also get a look at your resistances and stuff when you update? I don't think you've shown us the second or third page of the character sheet yet.

I don't like the unique petticoat unless it gives you something you're sorely lacking. The minuses to resistances and health just feels too costly.

(then again, I usually play squishy characters, who can't afford the health loss)

There are only two pages to the character sheet in Steamband. Well, two relevant pages. The third page is 'mutations', which sadly we can't acquire, being a giant robot.

Here's our latest stats:

I think you're probably right that the petticoats aren't worth the tradeoff - though I am very fond of the +4 speed and +4 saving throw - but they're cool, and we're a giant death robot. I'll stick with them for at least an update more, I think.
