Atelier: Arland Trilogy

Part 127: Update CXXIII: An Apprentice and the End of her Journey, Jyu-San: Sunny Day

The final chapter... The ending resulting from making the Potion of Youth, the Ice Cascade Bomb, reaching alchemy level 50, then synthing one more thing. The capstone scene.

This is it...

Thanks. How's it going over there, Hom?

Chances of delay are one percent. My task progresses smoothly.

Perfect. Okay, all done over here!

Hello everyone. Am I interrupting?

No no, it's fine. I just finished.

Wow, you were making a Ruby Prism? That's a really tough synthesis?

Really? I've made so many of them, I've completely lost count.

That's so amazing. You might even be able to control the space-time continuum now!

Mmm, not quite yet. It would be interesting to defy all known laws of causality, though.

Definitely. To cause something to happen, without causing it to happen. Imagine the new fields of research!

Oh, but right now I'm trying to figure out how to manipulate the weather. Anyway, to what do I owe this visit?

Ah, that's right. Actually, Ms. Astrid asked me to come by.

Ms. Astrid?

Ahh! Don't jump out like that!

Well, now you can tell me what I'm doing here.

I've completed the potion to adjust a person's age, and I wanted to officially unveil it.

A potion to adjust ages? Does that mean...?

You can return Miss Rorona to normal!?

Mm...something like that.

Why are you being so coy? And why did you say "adjust" her age, not not "return her to normal"?

Details, details. I just wanted to try it out, which is why I called on you.

Try it out...? Which means...

It's not going to hurt. And it'll be over before you know it!

Wait...Ms. Astrid...what's with that grin? Kyaaaah!

Totori and I brought some pies. Let's eat!

Wow, there's so many different kinds! What's that one that looks like a bird? Uwaah, it's hot!

That's a Phoenix Pie. It's really spicy, so be careful.

Ohh...and what about this squishy one?

That's a Puni Pie. It's kind of hard to eat since it's so slippery. But its Puni-like texture makes it extra tasty.

Why couldn't you just make normal gummies...?

My personal favorite is Tuna's Eye Pie. Oh, but umm...try not to make eye contact with it.

I made some tea. It's a new blend that changes your voice when you drink it!

Everything tastes so much better when you eat it out here. And the scenery is amazing, too. Oh, but wait...

That's true. Oh! One of the mountains is gone. Now who would go and do such a thing?

Sorry, that's my fault. The new explosive I synthesized worked better than I expected, and...yeah.

Mm. This view, this food, these fine pupils...not bad. They have grown more than I ever imagined. I'm simply delighted.

It's true, a tea party with everyone together sure is fun. But... How come we're all 14 years old?

You're not as immature as a child, but you haven't lost the glow of youth. I think that makes it the perfect age.

So I guess it's all about what Ms. Astrid wants.

Well, I guess it can be fun to be a teenager once in a while. But shouldn't we come up with an antidote?

No! The age you're at now is the best! No younger, no older!

Jeez, I guess she has some kind of obsession...

Well, I'm okay with things as is. It's kind of fun having all the teachers and students be the same age.

Yeah, I can kind of see what you mean. It's not something you see every day.

There aren't any major problems with it, so I guess it's not really a big deal.

The combined genius of the Alchemists of Arland will forever transform this world. These four challenge the impossible, defy reality, and will forge this world according to their desires. The chain is complete, the circle fulfilled.

Well my friends, this is the end. It's been a rocky road, indeed. What began in the lobby of my dorm building on campus has survived countless technical difficulties, fatigue, real-life stuff, and I've made it through. Well, as for me, I've been Sylphid, and this has been Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland. Tune in next time for...

...

Oh...there won't be a next time. This is the end of the thread, everyone. I've still got some boring behind-the-scenes stuff to take care of, but nothing you all need concern yourselves with. I'll begin Atelier Ayesha very soon, so I do hope you'll join me for that. You've been a wonderful audience; one I am very glad to have entertained these past 13 months. This has been a fascinating experience, both the good and the bad, one I thank you all for.

And now...it is done.
