Part 6: From a Low Point to a High Point

From a Low Point to a High Point

Well, looks like it's pretty unanimous!

Use mushroom trowel on that mushroom with yellow whatever underneath

bobvonunheil posted:

This sounds about right. Or try using it on any of the other mushrooms too? Those bouncy things are all mushrooms, right?

Glazius posted:

Yeah, it looks like you can use the trowel to dig up a mushroom and plant it higher to sproing back out.

I thought the same thing, and was trying it whilst you were away. That yellow ground seems to stand out, it looks soft, I'd just be able to raise it up a little to get out... but no, it doesn't move at all! Nor do most mushrooms here. Except for...

Somewhat counter-intuitive, but it worked!

bobvonunheil posted:

I find it hard to believe this game would condemn us to permadeath for thinking to dig through the hollow ground.

I guess you're right. Though... I have a sneaking suspicion that these words may one day come back to haunt us. Regardless, we're safe now, so let's move on!

Raincoat! Trap door!
You should be able to get past the underground river that way, by the look of the map.

Finally, that ever tantalising trapdoor is within reach! I'll get my coat.

Odd. The rain disappears forever as it splashes off the plastic!
It must've.. kept rapidly evaporating into the cloud above before... I guess.

It's stuck! The trapdoor is stuck! All that effort, and we still haven't gotten anywhere. Finding these items is starting to feel like a wild goose chase.

Relax, relax. We'll get them... eventually. At least, I think we will... nevertheless, we still have more ways to explore!

FredMSloniker posted:

Use the raincoat to bypass the deadly rain and see what's in that direction.

I can see what's ahead... and it's the steep mountainside. There's plenty of birds up there too... I'll go clear the place out first.

Whew, this is hard work! Now, to actually take my time and bring the various treasures back down to ground level. First up, is...

A Bottle of Dry Ice! The scroll, by the way, reading 'The Crystal Mountain'. There was also a thin sheet of crystal on the way up; it looks like there's some passageways inside the mountain itself, but I have no way to smash through the crystal flooring.

Secondly, we have...

Somebody's spare ovary.
Seems like the game didn't expect you to survive for so long, your life counter hasn't increased.
A fair assumption, given that we haven't been surviving well at all. There's A Strong Crowbar up here too, and another inaccessible opening into the mountainside. I'm simply too big to fit through.

Last of all, right at the peak of the mountain...

A Gleaming Emerald. It's carved into the shape of an eye. The scroll here reads: 'And the yellow god forever gazes down'...

Sounds foreboding. Ah well, bring it down with the rest of the junk.

Well, we've built up quite the collection of trinkets now! But.. what to possibly do with them?

Once again, over to you guys!
We now have access to:
- Free Acme Bird Seed (for any birds we may come across!)
- A Plastic Raincoat (for any rain we may come across!)
- Empty Potion Bottle
- The Graveyard Key
- Rusty Bolt Cutters
- A Bottle of Dry Ice
- A Strong Crowbar
- A Gleaming Emerald

Any suggestions or ideas on how to progress? Do tell!
Our current backlog for the next update:
- Heading into the graveyard with the graveyard key!
