Part 8: Gilgaserker

Zerky! the Omniserker

Part 7 - Gilgaserker

1/3 of the way through the game! This should by far be the easiest third for Zerky!. I'm only really worried about Exdeath for this world.

"Because you looked like a fucking idiot poisoning yourself like that."

Not boss-worthy.

So, the way Sulla did this section in his solo runs is change Galuf to a Samurai and spam GilToss.

FUCK THAT. LEVEL 1 BERSERKER.

code:

Gilgamesh
HP: 11500
Vulnerable to Death, Mini, Blind, Old, Berserk, Silence, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
Display Text: Gilgamesh:  Hah!
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
Display Text: Gilgamesh:  Hah!
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
Condition:HP < 10000 & HP Damage{
     Display Text: Gilgamesh:  Crap!
     Display Text: Alright.. for today
     Display Text: I'll let you go...
     Display Text: Lucky for you!
     Escape
     }

So the plan is to get a Death proc from the Death Sickle and win that way because it's the most awesome and metal way to win.

Problem is Gilgamesh gets to attack first, and the Elven Mantle wouldn't proc an evade. Can't use the Main Gauche either, and I'm not going to give Galuf abilities he has no business using.

So I just brute force it until I win. Simple!

NON-CANON GALUF DEATHS: 11

Great job, Galuf, now go back to lying on the ground.

Big Bridge goes without issue. For Gilgamesh 2, I go with Main Gauche/Mage Masher to try to proc Silence before Greg's buffs kick in.

What I forgot until after I beat him is Silence does not work on Gilgamesh in the GBA version. It only works on SNES and PS1. Oh well, I didn't really need it anyway.

Of course Gilgamesh would spend time hiding behind a door.

code:

Gilgamesh (Human, Heavy)
HP: 6500
MP: 1000
Vulnerable to Blind, Old, Berserk, Silence (only in SNES/PS1 versions), Slow.

AI Script:
Condition:V00=01{
     {Fight,Jump,Electric Shock}
     {Fight,Fight,Jump}
     }
Fight
{Fight,GblinPnch,Specialty}
{Fight,Aero 2,Fight}
{Fight,Wind Slash,Specialty}
React:Death & V00=01{
     Display Text: Gilgamesh:  Hey!
     Display Text: I remembered urgent business!
     Display Text: I'll be back!!
     Escape
     }
React:HP < 2500 & HP Damage & V00=00{
     No Interrupt{
          Display Text: I was wrong...
          Haste
          Display Text: I can't fight four people...
          Armor
          Display Text: I don't stand a chance...
          Shell
          Display Text: ...did you believe me!!?
          Jump
          Set V00=01
     }

Gilgamesh isn't so bad early on. Main Gauche + Elven Mantle block most of his physical attacks, and Zerky! is buff enough from World 1 to handle stuff like Aero 2 and Wind Slash.

Plus he's doing like a thousand an attack between the two knives.

Things get trickier once he gets to this phase.

His jumps will rip through you and damage will slow down due to Protect.

I actually die once here.

But not twice.

DEATHS: 1

The march to that town no one ever remembers the name of is kind of a pain since there's tons of multi-enemy encounters where enemies don't go down to one hit each.

It doesn't help that there's a ton of stuff for Zerky! to buy. Sleep Sword's great for the sleep proc, Wind Spear might be nice for enemies weak to wind, and Chain Whip is a whip. There's also a Golden Helm to complete Zerky!'s gold set. And HiPotions for those times where I want to use something besides !White to heal.

So I do a bit of money grinding to buy all the worthless crap I'll never use.

And this is the point where I decided, "You know, the Brave Blade isn't worth it anyway" and just run away. These guys have huge defense and spam Vampire. A nightmare if I couldn't run.

Thankfully, you can run in the GBA version with only Berserkers. You can't do so in the SNES version, which makes the Chicken Knife useless. The encounters in World 2 are generally pretty nasty anyway.

code:

Tyrannosaur (Dragon, Undead)
HP: 5000
Weak to Fire.
Immune to Ice.
Vulnerable to Death, Blind, Old, Berserk, Slow.

AI SCRIPT:
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
React:??{
     Poison Breath
     }
React:Physical{
     {Fight,Specialty,????}
     }

For most solo runs, Tyrannosaur is a chump. Phoenix Down and it's dead. For Zerky!, who's too stupid to do that, this guy's a bit scarier due to his 1/3 chance of countering physical attacks with Revenge, which does (Max HP - Current HP) damage.

Fortunately, Zerky! can kill this guy in two rounds so the fear is moot.

Dancing Dagger is nice, it gives Zerky! a 1/8 chance to recover HP and of course a 1/8 chance of Berserker Sword Dance.

But...that's how he always looks, Galuf.

And thiiiiiiiiis is another huge perk of going Omni. I can now Teleport out of dungeons without backtracking. This is very nice, especially in areas with lots of nasty encounters. And of course it's a wonderful time saver.

Next time, Bone Mail. And also some more bosses of course.
