Part 65: Paralogue 3: A Strangled Peace - Battle

Paralogue 3 Battle

Here's the team being taken for this map. Cordelia and Sumia's mobility will be valuable for this type of map: lots of forests to hinder our troops, lots of enemies to kill in a short amount of time.

This is also a good time to show how good Tonics are. Chrom, Cordelia, and Kellam will receive a Strength Tonic for their purposes. Lissa and Maribelle will receive Magic Tonics to boost their healing.

Great thing about Tonics are that you can use them during Preparation. If you use them, then Exit out of the map, those boosts will still apply until you actually start a mission.

Donny will support Kellam to boost his hit rate enough to hit the rather high evasion Mercenary.

That leaves an opening for Robin to finish it off safely with help from Maribelle giving +10 Hit.

Chrom will hang in the forest to bait out the two enemies in the upper left.

Frederick will ride (somehow) with Sumia and fly just under the enemy range of that Javelin Knight.

Many players have the biggest problem with these three Pegasus Knights since they will swoop in on the Villagers and double-attack them to death.

That's why Sully will support Cordelia and she will fly just beyond the Barbarian and Archer with Ephraiam's Lance in waiting.

Lissa will move over to give Chrom some extra Hit on the enemy phase.

Those two Knights will always attack the Villagers, but won't kill them. The Villagers will run straight for the bottom left, and the Risen will try their damn hardest to kill them first as their priority.

Robin took a nasty shot from the Steel Axe Barbarian, but she's quick enough to double-attack back for the kill.

The Archer Risen knocks her down to 7 HP and an unfortunate miss leaves an extra variable on our turn to deal with. At least that exchange gave Robin a level.

How, Robin. Tell me How

Chrom doubles the incoming Mercenary in one round, thanks to the Strength tonic. Chrom gets a level, also.

If you took a swig every time his strength came from diligence without actual strength gained, you would be dead by now.

Chrom clears the upper left.

Thanks to Sully's Support bonus, the Strength Tonic, and Ephraiam's Lance, Cordelia is killing the Pegasus Knights with one strike.

Killing all 3 Risen Peg Knights give Cordelia just Str. Which is really all she needs.

And a major part of the map's problems are gone. The rest of the Risen moves around to get closer to the Villagers.

Chrom moves as far south as he can, getting future attention from the Barbarian and Archer.

Cordelia moves to the middle and safely drinks a Vulnerary to cure her wounds.

Kellam finishes off the Archer.

Lissa, boosted by the Magic Tonic, gets enough range to safely heal Robin from distance with some extra HP restored.

Robin eats a Javelin, but gets the one-turn kill on the Knight. She also gets B rank in Tomes.

Sumia flies all the way in front of the other Knight and switches to Frederick to wield his Silver Lance once again.

Hasn't missed a beat.

Frederick gets a potshot from the Risen Archer.

Robin gets near the brink of death before summoning two bolts to electrocute the last upper Risen.

Chrom attracts and kills off the nearby Barbarian. The map continues moving left as the Villagers slowly make their way out of the forest.

Cordelia heals herself with another helping of Vulnerary, while Chrom finishes off the left Archer.

Fred takes care of the last Archer.

Kellam and Robin move to the right to engage the boss, the latter drinking a Concoction to heal up in preparation.

Lissa heals a Villager just in case, though mostly for extra EXP.

Fred gets dinged by the Barbarian, but still gets away with the easy kill.

Cordelia gets attacked by the nearby Barbarian, only to get killed by the might of the two female horse-riders.

Note: Chatting with the Villagers is not required to get any extra items

Are you all right?!

Oh, thank goodness you've come! Are you here to help us?

We'll hold them off! Run!

U-understood! If we make it out alive, I'll repay you! I swear!

Cordelia flies over ahead of the Villagers and switches to Sully. She equips herself with a Killer Lance for maximum punch.

Yes!

No! What are these levels?? She gained B in Staves I guess, but what does that matter when she's gained 2 Mag in 12 levels?

Sumia waits to counter the Mercenary.

Imagine if you have worse Heal Staff with less uses. You have a Kneader. Great.

Blessed Bow is an 11 Mt, C rank bow that heals the user 10 HP at the start of the turn. Comes with an impressive 35 uses, and is stronger than the Steel Bow we picked up last mission.

Sully takes the mighty hit from the Knight, but returns the favor with a critical hit for the kill.

Suma trades blows with the Mercenary, who would've killed her by now if I attacked on the last turn.

Sumia moves over to the edge of the forest, so Maribelle can heal her wounds. Donny advances south.

Lissa heals Sully enough to take on the last Risen on the left side.

Better safe than sorry, but Sully kills off the enemy with a first strike critical.

"Your last breath approaches."

The battle between Sumia and the Mercenary was cut short by an overkill critical from Frederick.

Kellam plugs up the Silver Lance Risen Chief, then Frederick moves by and switches Donny with Sumia to prevent Kellam being doubled.

The rest of the turn involves healing wounds for extra EXP.

Much, much worse if Sumia wasn't supporting him.

Meh.

A couple more rounds of Kellam taking counterattacks while Maribelle heals him ends in victory.

I missed you, Kellam.

Sumia gains C-rank in Lances and we get a free Elixar out of it.

I don't...maybe? I guess?

*after the battle*

I didn't think people like you still existed. I'll...I'll never forget this. *leaves*

So...is Chrom going to ask if all Villagers wear those pot hats...?

Do you suppose the village will continue to bar its gates to refugees?

As long as they view the Risen as someone else's problem, then yes.

They claim to love peace...yet the uneasy peace found behind a barricade is nothing I'd want. Peace begins when the fighting is over and the barricades come down.

I pray they can see the truth of that before it's too late...

Nice! Seraph Robes give permanent +5 HP when consumed. You get this item if you save just one Villager.

...What is this

I don't...I don't unders...wait, hold up.

...

...

I should've let them die.
