Part 41: Kanan II

Chapter 27- Kanan II

We headed straight to where Penn said he saw the Thurists. And sure enough there they were. You can always tell when they're around. That damn laughter is ever present. We wanted to confront that preacher, Kanan, with what we had learned.

Where is your leader?
Cultist: Who wants to know? Kehehe!
Ugh, these people are like cockroaches! No matter how many we kill, two more pop up to take their place!
What's all the commotion? What's going on?
It's the preacher!
Ahh, it's our holy savior!
What seems to be the problem?
The problem? The problem?!
You killed my sister!

Why would you ask such a silly question?
Silly? What's silly about it?!
Hmhm... if you can't get past these petty issues, you'll never grasp the big picture.
Petty issues... big picture?

H-hey, Granny! You ever been to Pulkina before?
You know, I'm only...
*cough* Yes, I remember the name.
I traveled to that land and exterminated the heretics I found cowering there.
But how did you know it was me? I didn't even look like this back then.

Where is this god of yours?!
Oh, who can say?! He comes and goes in this reality as he sees fit.
Hehe... hohoho!
Gah, like nails on a chalkboard...
Hey, kid. Why are you just standing there? Start hurting them, then they'll tell us what we wanna know.
C'mon, it'll be fun!
Hmm... I don't know.
For the life of my sister!
See? He's got the right idea, for once!

As if creating a cult and releasing a deadly disease weren't bad enough, Kanan was personally responsible for the destruction of Pulkina. Hell, she might have personally killed Danette's parents. And she just doesn't give a damn. But I do. We decided to show these bastards exactly what we thought of their actions. Did a good job, too. Very impressive.

Feinne on Soul Nomad:

This is the first map we face Schemestresses on, as there's two rooms led by generics and Kanan is a hero Schemestress. Their tactics aren't immediately deadly like a Pyremage, but they're still dangerous. They like hitting you with Ensnare, which reduces ACT and SPD, making you move slower, act less frequently, and easier to hit. In combat they have nasty abilities like canceling your counters and doing straight up half of your health. If there's at least two in a room and they're below 80% STM, when you attack the room it gets its counters before your attack (the same applies to any of our rooms with two of them, though, which is why I always try to have two in my hero's room). \

Kanan also needs to die. Like, immediately. Never, ever let her get below 80% STM. Especially never let her attack the Hero's room when she's below 80% STM. Her attack is Death Letter. This attack reduces everyone in the squad that is hit to 1 HP. I don't think I have to tell you how damn vulnerable that makes you to instantly losing the map. Demon Blast the bitch into the ground immediately or risk defeat.

After we defeated them, the Thurists started to retreat. But there's no way we're going to let them just get away with this.

Th-they're gone...
Where'd they go?
*sniff sniff*
I smell 'em... over there!
I thought you were a cow, not a dog!

And that's where we are. We're taking a short break before we head into the fire. This time there'll be no running away for Thuris. This time he dies. I won't let him and his cowardly gang kill even one more innocent.
