Part 15: Operation Red Afternoon: Turn 3
Operation Red Afternoon: Turn 3The Northern SAM system turns to the south to gain higher ground and (hopefully) start blasting missiles at the Cobras.
Meanwhile, our forces in the middle moved to the west under cover of controlled bursts of 12.7mm gunfire. It didn't stop a lucky TOW missile form taking out the independent T-80 though (fortunately, it wasn't a T-80B, those ATGMs are probably one of our best bets at destroying a Cobra).
To the south, a Strela-3 Team is deployed while the rest of the force slips away under the cover of smoke. I'm hoping the Cobras give chase so that they get nailed by the Strela team.
Ultimately, the Cobras can only occupy one area at any given moment, and that means our forces can move freely as long as they are being held off by expendable units or units that can properly engage air units (or expendable anti-air units).
What I think we should try to do is a two-front strategy. One one side, we perform a holding action with the hopes of destroying the Cobras or bogging them down for a while. On the other side, our armoured forces take the high ground in order to capture the VP's and wreck the NATO ground forces (which can't be impressive, given that Ursinius has Air Cav Infantry, Gunships and several Bombers).
I think this match is actually salvagable if we play to our strengths and not our weaknesses. Of course, for all I know, Ursinius spent the rest of his points entirely on ATGM teams that he has holed up all over the map.
Also, I need feedback on the second topic proposal. I have brought it up twice and gotten one reply.
