Part 18: Chapter 5-1

Chapter 5: In Which Vickie Joins the Working Girls

So back to Vickie. Boo. I miss Gustav already.

Pat is gone. With any luck the Ripper got him.

No such luck. He and his ass are over here messing with the Jacuzzi.

“Dad?”

“So, how are the cookies?”

“I’m happy you like them. I’ll have a bite later.”

Not fucking likely you old bastard.

“You ate them ALL already?”

“Jeez, Dad, you could have let me have at least one.”

“Great! My dad’s a cookie junkie.”

I hate this game and everything in it.

“Why did you let Miller upstairs?”

“Yeah but, Dad, he saw my room, Dad.”

“You do know I work with cops. I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Vickie, if you can’t find material to fight back with regarding *Miller* of all people, there’s no hope for you.

“Playing Mr. Fix It?”

“Dad. Call someone. The reason why it breaks all the time is because you fix it. Just call a professional.”

“He is Dad, but he has a cop sense of humor.”

“Yes, I have to go meet up with him. I’ll drop by again later, to make more cookies. No thanks to you…”

Hate.

“Bye, Dad.”

Enough of that. Over to the Campus to arrest Kolar for having fingerprints found on Natalie and Jack’s corpses.

Officer Pukey is waiting.

“Hey, Miller.”

Vickie knocks.

“Hey, Vaclav! We need to talk to you. The cute agent is back!”

A woman screams from somewhere.

“Shh! Hey listen…did you hear that?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“No way. This is for real.”

Vickie turns on super sarcastic mode here.

“It’s called suspicion of an officer.”

“Call Tate.”

And with probable cause of a movie playing inside, Vickie kung fu kicks the door in. I am shocked you’re currently on probation, Vickie.

“Oh my god, Miller! You were like…absolutely right. It’s like…a movie.”

“Christ Miller…lighten up. Let’s check out his room.”

Inside, Kolar is not here. There’s actually nothing worth examining in the first room. Checking out that room he disappeared to earlier…

“Oh, stop it.”

“Yeah, so?”

“You just described three quarters of adolescent America. He’s harmless. We’re here to ask about the prints. We aren’t here for character assassination. We’ll leave that part to the lawyers.”

And Miller exits, leaving us to snoop.

So Captain Neckbeard is kind of odd, but there’s nothing incriminating in here.

Trying to leave, this woman wanders up.

“You must be Mia, right?”

This would be the other girl who was in Jack’s photo of Vaclav. The one who wasn’t Jack herself or Natalie.

“I’m Agent McPherson and this is Detective Miller. You wouldn’t happen to know where Vaclav might be?”

Miller asking this.

“Where do you work?”

“Can you check it out? I’ll meet you over there.”

“Do you mind if I ask what you do there?”

Hello.

“Thanks for the offer but I have to decline. I really need to talk to your friend Vaclav.”

“Err...I’m not sure I want you to but go right ahead.”

“Not quite what I expected…but then again it could have been worse. To answer the question, yes I’m spoken for.”

“I don’t have much time to chitchat now but I will contact you later, I’d like to ask you a few more questions.”

“I’ll be in touch.”

And Mia goes back to her room. That was…something.

Trying to leave, we are interrupted by my hero, Deputy Dawg!

“Yes, I need you to guard the door in case Vaclav Kolar shows up here.”

“About 5’8, black hair, glasses and he has a scar on his face.”

“All right. Thanks, Tate.”

I feel safer already. No neckbeard murderer is getting past Deputy Dawg.

“Sorry about giving you such a wonderful job but, we really don’t have a choice.”

Alrighty, now we can go visit Mia’s massage parlor or whorehouse or whatever the hell it is she does.

I for one am shocked.

“You didn’t try your tough guy routine…did you?”

“What happened?”

“You mean you flashed your badge in his face right?”

“Then what?”

“Correction we are screwed…but wait…I might have an idea.”

This can only end in pain.

“Stay here in case I miss Vaclav. You know what he looks like?”

“Just watch the door…I’ll be right back.”

Elevator up…

Up here, there is a rather large bouncer. We’ll just talk to him, and…oh god, I’m just gonna post this one to video so you can hear this conversation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvlI...eature=youtu.be

Down the elevator. What…just…what.

“Yes and no. I have to see Mia and try to convince her to give me her pass. Can you stay here and watch the place in case Kolar decides to split?”

Woof. Back over to see Mia.

“Hi, Mia.”

“Sort of…I need a favor.”

But before we can get to sexy time, Mia is phoned.

“But, Mia, all I need is…”

And off she goes. We’re free to investigate her apartment.

Nothing else to see in there. Her bedroom is more interesting.

Checking out the photo album on her bed…

And the last photo…

…is the girl the Ripper wanted us to notice by stuffing a photo of her into Jack’s stomach.

We’ll just take this. Mia turns up again somewhere in here, but doesn’t seem to care much that you’re stealing her photos.

“Mia! Who is this?”

“Where were you going to meet her?”

“Just tell me where!”

“OK, I know the place…”

“No time to explain just stay here…don’t move.”

And Vickie leaves on her own. But no real hurry, we can still talk with Deputy Dawg.

“Hey Officer Tate, how’re you holding up?”

“My pleasure, and how did it go?”

“Congratulations! That’s great news.”

“Well, God knows you’ve earned it.”

Maybe now he’ll actually make Deputy.

“So, nothing huh?”

“Sort of yes, I have some more questions for Mia.”

Well, no we don’t. First we’re going to go to where potential victim Steph was heading, which…is…the studio of Vickie’s absentee boyfriend Richard. Huh.
