Part 34: Turn 31: January 15, 1942

6 more turns of blizzard, we've got to do as much damage as we can with the time we have left.

The commander of the 1st Shock army gets promoted, no big surprise. Now that we have some spare AP to go around I think I'll start micromanaging my commanders a little more.

Guards! Our first wave of guards cavalry corps shows up. The 1st is in the 1st Shock army and the 2nd and 3rd are part of the 60th and 57th armies on the Kalinin Front. The 17th Guards rifles are attached to the 12th army, on the northen flank of the Southwestern front.

Let's go break into that city.

The city has been cut off since early October, now we just need to retake the rail and try to hold it.

That is way less tanks than I was expecting, but I'll take what I can get.

More and more guards here every turn, lets go win some more fights and generate a few more.

First up the 57th cavalry and the 3rd shock blast a hole through the German line. I'm planning on pushing north and forcing a large chunk of the German line to evacuate this bulge.

We're blasting huge holes in the German line here but I'm fairly certain there's another line a few miles back our planes can't find.

We nearly cut off another Panzer division but fall just short, maybe next turn.

Some Germans have materialized to oppose the 1st Shock but they won't slow it down long.

There's a huge number of motorized divisions around here which is making progress difficult. The 1st shock is still making steady progress but they're running out of steam, I'm gonna have to pull them back for a turn or two to rest.

Another near encirclement, that lex hex is always tricky. I'm still having trouble getting all my troops on the line here. Now that there isn't a huge bulge in my line from the German push on Moscow the line is much shorter.

Let's go beat up some Romanians.

The noose is tightening around the SS Totenkopf, if it doesn't evacuate now I'll probably be able to encircle it next turn.

Kill all Romanians.

At the southern tip of the front we cut off an infantry division but lack the MP to encircle it, so it's going to escape next turn.

The Germans push my forward divisions back into the line but don't even attempt to cut the city off again. Now we just need to regain control of the rails in this region. There are a handful of other attacks of opportunity across the line but mostly they just fall back.

We launched 91 attacks this turn with 71 succeeding. We captured 1 infantry division, and the Das Reich SS Motorized division and shattered a Romanian infantry division.
