Part 100: Caliban System, Vega Sector, Mission 3 (Gameplay)
Huzzah! After two job interviews, a friend's graduation party, a family get-together over the bank holiday weekend, and travelling over 600 miles to get to all of the above, plus sundry other distractions (see previous post), we actually have an update!1st September 2669, Caliban System (Mission 3), Vega Sector
TCS Victory
Colonel Blair's flight wing escorts the Victory (which appears to have sent its escorts on ahead or something) to the Torgo system jump point (and, finally, out of a nebula, never to re-enter one).
There are no pre-mission conversations, so no conversation video.

Kills this mission: 15 (and as it happened, I got 20 on the run I did on rookie, so I'm using that to bring the game's killboard back in line with the number of kills I think I actually have in the LP).
Ship of the day:
Sha'Kar-class
Class: Transport
Length: 150 m
Mass: 2,100 tonnes
Max Velocity: 100 kps
Maximum Yaw/Pitch/Roll: 5/5/5 degrees\second
Weapons: 2x dual laser turret
Shields: 2000 cm durasteel equivalent all sides
Armour: 1000 cm durasteel equivalent all sides
(Image from WCPedia, because, well, why would I make my own when there's a perfectly good one there under a license which doesn't mind me stealing it?)
Official Strategy Guide: Corvettes and transports can be easily taken out by a single fighter with a torpedo. A really sharp pilot can even destroy them with guns alone, if he can eliminate their turrets first. Note that with 3000 points of shield, and a max recharge rate of 300 points per second,
the transport is actually harder to take out than the corvette, once both ships have been offensively disabled.
I say: Once again, the OSG massively overestimates the threat posed by a capital ship. The only reason you might consider wasting a torpedo on a transport is not having any other valid targets for one. It's questionable as to whether a transport even has more firepower than a Darket; I'd argue not, since it lacks missiles. This makes "shoot at it until it dies" all the strategy one is likely to need.
