Introduction

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales

What's this game?

This game is a spinoff of Final Fantasy, hence Final Fantasy Fables. The Fables are a collection of games tied together by the choice of protagonist. Only two have been released in English, one for the DS (Chocobo Tales) and one for the Wii (Chocobo's Dungeon), though there is a second game for the DS that was never released outside Japan. In each, you play as an enterprising young Chocobo who will play games, save the world, and be adorable (not necessarily in that order). Being a DS game made in 2007, it's controlled entirely through the touch screen. The controls, however, are very tight and I don't even notice it half the time. The only time it matters are the times it'll absolutely screw me up, and even then the game is rather forgiving.

What's so special about this game?

I played this game as a kid, and even then the levels of bullshit required astounded me. Playing through the game, you'll encounter one of three 'diversions', for lack of a better word - minigames, microgames, and elfgames cardgames. The main plot of this game is that an evil book captured all of your friends and now you must be the hero to go save everyone. To do so, you jump into magical picture books and play different minigames, all controlled through the touchscreen. Microgames are exactly what they sound like: little tiny games. You play them to get high scores, impress your friends, hate yourself, and get cards. Cards can then be used to play against other people in the game with card decks in a card game. All of this will make sense during the LP, so just hang on if you don't understand something. Odds are, it'll be explained soon enough.

How's this LP going to work?

I'll be playing through the game fully - that means 100% completion. I'll show off all the different little things you can do along the way, as well! It should be a fun ride, assuming I don't kill myself halfway through for being so stupid and undertaking something that will surely rob me of what limited sanity I have left.

What's the deal with spoilers and game-talk?

There really isn't much to spoil after the first few updates. However, if we haven't gotten there in the thread yet, put it under spoiler tags. Y'all can feel free to talk about other Chocobo and Final Fantasy stuff, but try to keep it somewhat relevant. And I don't want any arguments about which is the best game.
